The Age Of Accountability & Denial

Ps 97:6
6 The heavens declare His righteousness,
And all the peoples see His glory. NKJV
One late afternoon, I was on the internet researching a topic. I ran across a video of an American that was calling followers of Jesus incompetent, ignorant, and prejudice. (Just saying that I wondered why he didn’t see his own comments as prejudiced). He was walking in Israel with a camera on him as he said, “There is no way to prove God exists”. It was interesting that they filmed him as he slide along a path in Israel. The camera angle was taken from below and as you looked up listening to this man deny the existence of God and anything good, a gorgeous sky and powerful sun was in the sky right behind him. This man who undoubtedly has deceived or disturbed people in his country with his strong intellect looked so puny and small in front of the awesome creation of our almighty God.
Some might curse this man, but as I saw this video it was so clear how his arrogance and deception was not only taking him to eternal darkness and suffering, it was also hurting others. I prayed for him that the Holy Spirit would draw Him to believe.
You can deny God all you want, you can curse Him or His people, but there will be a day to pay for what you have done while you were on the earth. If an unbeliever can just look at the creation around themselves they can not honestly deny what God created was created for a purpose. But that is exactly it, like many others this guy was in denial. If there is no God, then he is free to speak foully, be sexually immoral, curse others, and attack people in the name of comedy. When these people stop denying, they will realize how foolish they themselves are. Ps 97:6 says that the heavens declare His righteousness and His glory. God is glorious! Bright and beautiful!
Everyone knows that God exists, because it is created in them to know. Romans 1:18-19 says
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. NKJV
God has revealed Himself to these guys. Those who deny Him are suppressing the truth. When did He start? Well, there is a time we all come to when we wonder why we are here. It varies with people but everyone begins to wonder why they are here. They think, “Did I just happen to come along? Is there a purpose for me being here?” and question why they exist. My Bible teachers call this “The Age of Accountability”. This is the time when young people begin to recognize that they weren’t some accident. They can either deny the desire to figure out they are here or go after Him (which always leads them to God in sincerity). Simply we can go after Him or we can deny Him.
You were born for a reason. You came with a purpose to bring light to your world, your family, your spouse, your school, your workplace, your city, your nation, your world. Jesus told us what we need to do.
Matt 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. NKJV
Are you shining today before people around you? You do it by that good things that you do. Helping the fatherless, feeding the poor, encouraging the disheartened, healing the sick, building up your church family, speaking positive even in the negative... if you have strong faith you can even raise the dead. Jesus did it and others have done it in our day. Faith starts as a little tiny seed and grows into a mighty tree as you feed it.
Today, pray for those men and women who are in denial. Pray that their foolishness will not deceive people and that they will see the fallacy of denying the loving Father of the universe. If they still refuse to turn to Him, they will be removed by the prayers of the righteous... that’s you and me.
Shine, shine, shine your light before your fellow man! Jesus is coming back soon.

More Than A Great Man

Mark 12:1
Then He began to speak to them in parables: "A man planted a vineyard and set a hedge around it, dug a place for the wine vat and built a tower. And he leased it to vinedressers and went into a far country...” NKJV
When you start telling people about the Messiah Jesus and what He is doing in your life, you will find all sorts of people. My favorite people to meet are those who have been seeking and looking for God in their lives and you can see that God has arranged a divine appointment between them and I for that time. That is marvelous.
However, when someone starts to tell me “Jesus was a great teacher”, “Jesus was a great man”, or even “Jesus was a prophet”, I start to suspect that I have just met a religious person. Of course, the Messiah Jesus is a great man, rabbi, and even prophet, but He is more than that. He is God.
Some people will try to explain away the good news of the Word of God for you if you let them. Don’t let them. Get into the Word for yourself and make sure your pastor, your small group, and other church leaders are sticking to the Word of God. At the end of my three year term serving at a denominational church in Japan, the leadership under the guidance of the pastor had divided up the church into small groups. The groups were told they could only talk to members from their group within the church. That were not allowed to talk to other members of the church in other groups. How cultish! “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” not unnatural restrictions.
Jesus was not some guy that just happened to be a great speaker and teacher. He came for a specific reason to the earth and He knew it. These people that limit the Messiah Jesus to being a man are missing out because He is God whether or not they deny or accept His redemptive power. He knew He was here to accomplish the death and resurrection on our behalf. When you read Mark 12, He tells a parable explaining exactly that.
Our Messiah Jesus explains why He came through a parable about a vineyard. Here the vineyard is the world. The people that were sent before the son of the owner were the prophets. The owner is our Father God. The son who was beaten and killed was Jesus prophesying his own crucifixion death on the cross.
Notice what the religious people did in verse 12. They got mad because this was one parable they understood. They were so filled with pride and evil, they wanted to murder the Son of God there. If we put this parable in simpler terms, basically the earth has been given to us for a time. God has been reaching out to unbelievers through His people. Some have attacked, mistreated, and even killed the people that God sent to make the people right before Him. Then in Mark 12:9 we get the question and answer,
"Therefore what will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the vinedressers, and give the vineyard to others. NKJV
Judgment is coming to who who chose to turn on the Messiah. Judgment is coming to those who believe as well. But for believers, King Jesus is standing in the gap on our behalf so we can enter in to the Kingdom.
Jesus the Messiah was more than a great man, He is the Son of God. He is God. Do you know Him?

What Simeon Had

Luke 2:25
And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. NKJV
For me, the most important thing to me is to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. Even before Acts 2 when the believers were filled in mass by the Holy Spirit and His power, there were people who were led by the Spirit of God. There are many examples of this in the Old and New Testaments of the Word of God. A beautiful fulfillment of a promise God made to an individual who was led by the Spirit is in Luke 2 about a man named Simeon. Simeon was led by the Spirit. Simeon was old, and he knew the Messiah was coming. Seeing the hopeless world around him, I think he must have asked God to see the Messiah before his spirit left his body, and God fulfilled the promise which we can see in Luke 2.
The Holy Spirit led Simeon and he listened to his spirit in tune with the Holy Spirit. He knew when to go to church (the temple), he knew which baby was the Messiah, as well as knowing when the Anointed child was there. I am sure there were other couples there in Jerusalem taking their sons to be circumcised. The birth mother of Jesus and the step-father of Jesus must have looked like any other Israeli parents of the time. You can see that the Spirit led Simeon there.
We are spiritual beings and God will lead you by your spirit which is in tune with His Spirit. When does this start? How do I get this Holy Spirit guidance? How am I infilled with God’s Spirit and presence? When you have a question the best thing to do is start in the Word and look at yourself.
When was I filled with the power of the Holy Spirit? Was it when I went forward to repent and turn to Jesus in that church in that town of Aloha, Oregon? No, it wasn’t. As a matter of fact, for every Spirit-filled believer I know, turning to God and becoming a believer is a separate act from the infilling of the Holy Spirit. King Jesus must have thought the same thing as He too was a believer before He was filled. He went to the river and was baptized in water by John. Then what happened? Luke 3:22 says,
And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him NKJV
When you are baptized in water, is this when you receive the Holy Spirit? Not necessarily. It is when Spirit-filled people pray over you. Understand the Holy Spirit was something Jesus needed as well. If the Son of God needed to be led by the Holy Spirit when He was on the earth as a man, you know He was showing us by example that we need the Holy Spirit as well. Read on in Luke 4:1,
Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, NKJV
Filled and led. Must I say more? You can’t be led if you’re not filled.
Messiah Jesus was led by the Spirit to go somewhere. It is the same for us. He will lead you, He will connect you, He will give you the words to say if you ask, and He wants to be a part of your life! We’ve got to be led by the Spirit.
The day before I preach every week, I get into God’s presence. There is more behind that. I have spent the week reading His Word, listening to inspired Holy Spirit preaching, quieting myself before Him in the mornings and preparing myself. But I find my spirit to be a bit like a radio. It seems to be that when I leave church on Sunday, I am totally charged and ready for the week. I am in tune. As the week progresses, that Word, that powerful worship, the fellowship with other believers from Sunday tends to get out of tune with time. You must make time to get in tune with the Holy Spirit each day.
I have noticed there is a direct connection between the Word and the Spirit. Mary was chosen to birth the Messiah because she was filled with the Word. It came out from her in Luke 1:47-55 when Elizabeth greeted Mary in her songs of praise. You could see that Simeon was the same, filled with the Word in Luke 2:29-32. They weren’t the only Spirit-filled believers in the temple that day. There was another named Anna. Although there was no explanation of what was happening in that place with Simeon going to this baby and rejoicing, she walked in and knew exactly what was going on.
The better you know the Word of God, the better you know the God of the Word. Be led everyday by that Holy Spirit Simeon had.

Dealing With Fear & Deception
1 Tim 4:1
Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, NKJV
Summers are always so fun as you can enjoy the beauty of God’s creation outside. As a kid, my parents took me to a friend’s house for dinner one Saturday night with my brother and adopted sisters. I will never forget that night. After dinner, when the parents were off talking in the living room of this friend’s house, the older sister in that family was in the front yard on that summer night with us kids.
For some reason she started telling us kids ghost stories and other stories about dead people. I got scared and I still vaguely remember the stories of that day. NEVER scare children. Never put fear into kids, because it is not right, and although this young girl probably meant no harm it is something that can give kids unnecessary fear that they don’t need to have. God is greater than every fear. Of course, I have forgiven that girl, but her actions were wrong and I hope she didn’t do that to her children when she became a mom. When we are children we are young and very impressionable. We don’t want to put fear in kids.
Fear doesn’t stop there. There is fear of heights, fear of animals, fear of closed places, and all sorts of fear. Our God can help you overcome them. I have seen with the older generation with this fear of not ‘having enough’. In America, they talk about ‘comfort food’. This talks about people eating sweets and such when they feel down and don’t need food. They end up getting obese from this.
In Japan, the people didn’t have enough to eat during and after the War so the children that grew up during those times have a strong fear of waste and encourage their children not to waste. Leaving a few grains of rice in the rice bowl is considered bad. The new generations don’t seem to care as much. These are personal and cultural realities, but a fear many have is of the spiritual. People don’t mind hearing about angels but they don’t want to hear about demons.
In many of the world’s societies demons try to blend in. In less developed nations, their activity is more blatant through witch doctors and other activities. As a believer, we have nothing to fear of these imps. They have no power of us, and must obey us at the powerful Name of Jesus because we know Him and His Word. I have seen them run first hand and learned to detect them even in the so-called ‘more developed’ nations. You can do the same. You’ve got to remember these spirits hitch-hike on humans and follow people (whom they have footholds on) into church. You’ve got to be able to deal with them.
In 1 Timothy 4 we see that these spirits try to work through people to deceive believers. They make up doctrines and try to derail committed believers from God’s way. We must be aware because they try to work through people. In the church, they try to get in and deceive people, especially leaders. We have known from the beginning that they would try to do this. Acts 20:30 says,
Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves. NKJV
And it is clearly a problem in the church if we are not diligent. If you give these demonically directed people way in your church it will destroy that fellowship. 2 Peter 2:1 says,
But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. NKJV
Be a contributor to your church and realize that you may have to deal with people who may want to intentionally or unintentionally go in another direction.  Know the Word, know the leading of the Holy Spirit, and know Him more than any other thing.  If the enemy starts to deceive someone, you will not be shaken.

The Five Conditions Of Blessing & The Jealous God

Deut 28:9-10
9 "The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways. 10 Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you. NKJV
If you look at religion in the world, ‘a system of beliefs’ according to the dictionary, you will see people trying to work their way to heaven. Most are looking for a ticket to paradise. They are missing the complete point.
We are not trying to work our way into heaven. We are developing our personal relationship with the Father of all creation, the only perfect being in existence; pure power, light, and love. As you read in Deuteronomy and throughout the Word of God, it is not just about repenting and turning to Jesus so you can get a ticket to heaven. It’s not just about going to church and singing songs or hearing a great message. Nor is it just about fellowing with other people who know Him. It is all about knowing Him! He wants to know you.
As you read in Deuteronomy you can see some common themes in how to have a successful and deep relationship with God. Here are 5 points that we must all remember all the time.
- Listen faithfully to God’s voice- Those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. Get filled with the Holy Spirit and make sure you are sensitive to Him guiding your spirit.
- Observe and do all His commandments- Base your life on the Word of God not on how you feel or what you see. If you know His Word, you know His ways.
- Walk In His Ways- Being a believer is not an award, it is a lifestyle. You do it everyday. What you say, how you act, where you go... it all shows if you are in The Way or not.
- Don’t get side-tracked to the left or right- It comes at us from all sides, television, internet, mobile communications... distraction is the way the enemy will try to take you away from God. Keep going straight ahead with God and you will go higher
- Don’t go after any other ‘gods’- There is nothing that compares to God. He is bigger than anything. But sometimes, we allow these distractions to become bigger than God in our own lives. People do it with cars, boats, a sweetheart they’re ‘dating’, money, business... these distractions become so important to them that they lose site of God and fail to hear His voice.
Our Father is a jealous God. He says so Himself. Exodus 20:5
5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, NKJV
We can westernize things a bit and say not to let things come before God (as these things can become ‘gods’ to us, and this is true). However, if you have been to Asia you see idols all over the place. You see shrines, temples, god shelves, and all sorts of other things where people pray to some god or dead relative. You see shrines and temples sprinkled throughout Japan, shrines in front of houses in Indonesia, and temples throughout out Thailand. Before God these things are wrong. They are evil. If you have power or ownership over these things I should do what the kings of Israel did. They tore them down and it pleased God.
If you don’t have ownership or authority of the physical property, then you take it to the spiritual side. You should curse it to be unproductive and bind the demonic powers behind it.
Matthew 16:19
And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." NKJV
God is not looking for your money, ritual, or tradition. He is looking for a free-will relationship with you, His child! Put your relationship with Him first thing today.

Divine Elevation

Isaiah 43:19
19 Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert. NKJV
So many people look to their personal relationships, their human network, for promotion in life. They think that connection to that business associate, that friend of their father or mother, or some influential friend can take them up the ladder in life. In reality, this is not the case. Connections may help a bit, but the real connection you want to focus on is that connection to your heavenly Father, Jesus the Messiah, and the Holy Spirit. This is God.
God can do what no human can do. Isaiah 43:19 talks about how God will do a new thing. He will make a road where there is nothing but wilderness. He can even make a river in the desert, where by humans standards, there is no way you could have a river there. How can this be? WIth faith, all things are possible to those who believe. God will lift you up when you lift Him up. The source of your promotion may look like its coming from here or there on the earth, through this connection or that. However, divine elevation comes from the Lord. Psalms 75 says,
6 For exaltation comes neither from the east
Nor from the west nor from the south.
7 But God is the Judge:
He puts down one,
And exalts another. NKJV
God is the source of your promotion. He is the one who is going to lift you up. He will give you the position. You see people in various positions, but we’ve got to remember they can be gone in a minute. I have seen 10 to 15 instances of where people came against me in business and because of that, they were set aside. Was it because I am something better? No! It is because I am serving God, and seeking Him with everything I’ve got. A daily choice. You can be assured that the revenue that comes into my business is going to be used for The Way, the Kingdom. Furthermore, my salary is going to be tithed to my church every month. It’s not my money in the first place, it’s His. You’ve got to be the same. You have to say, “I am going to serve God and give Him glory whether I am up or down. If things are down for me, my dependance on Him always brings me up. Hallelujah!” Check out Deuteronomy 28:13 which says,
13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. NKJV
God makes you the head, God puts you above... but there is something you’ve got to do. You’ve got to adhere to His Word, which is His power. If you want God’s promotion, His divine elevation in your life, you’ve got to be careful to follow His ways. He is The Way.
Have you been hoping some individual would promote you? Were you hoping that some company or media appearance would give you that great break? Stop now. Realize that God uses people to accomplish His plans in your life.
Begin expecting your divine elevation today, because you are all set with Him.
The FaithBuilder inspired Brother Nathaniel’s message “Divine Elevation”.

Overcoming & Dealing With Unbelievers

Acts 4:1-3
Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them, 2 being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. NKJV
Now if you have ever shared Jesus with someone and what you have done for you, then you know how amazing it is to see when they respond. Even if it is just planting seeds of faith in their lives, when you walk away from that meeting you just feel so good. The Bible tells us that the angels in heaven rejoice when someone repents and turns to Jesus.
Luke 15:10
“Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." NKJV
It is glorious to see people come to Jesus! What does that word glorious mean? It is that feeling when you’ve won, when you’ve done something right and everyone feels so good. Glory is light, glory is bright! We’ve got just a small taste of the glory of God, but there is so much more.
Before a conference at a church all the pastors were gathered in a room to pray. A believer by the name of Smith Wigglesworth walked into that prayer meeting and joined them in prayer. When he started to pray, the glory of God came so strong in that room that everyone had to get out. The light, the power... the glory hit that room because of one strong believer!
We must realize that life is not always easy. We are living in a fallen world. Most people are so happy to see the joy, the faith, and the power of the believer. However, there are others that are under the dominion of the enemy, the demonic powers. They don’t like anything happy, joyous, or bright. They want to be down and dark, and make sure everyone else is like them as well. Down people pull people down. That is why you should NEVER marry an unbeliever. They will pull you down.
When you share the gospel, these people in the darkness will try to shut you up. They will say things against you. They may not even realize it, but because they are under the power of the world they may even criticize you. However, most of the time their attacks are pretty blatant. That is what happened in Acts 4. The religious people came and tried to get the believers to stop talking about Jesus the Messiah. They were disturbed. They wanted to keep people tied up in religious traditions and bondage not freedom in the Spirit.
There are two types of suffering in this world for the believer. One is suffering for the gospel, and the other is suffering for yourself. You don’t want to suffer for your own actions. That is why we need to be led by our spirits that are in tune with the Holy Spirit. I often say, if you share Jesus at the office, make sure you do it on your time. The company is not paying you to share Jesus on their time. Lunch time and breaks are perfect for that. If in some case the Holy Spirit tells you not to share Jesus with someone and you do, it may be because they are very anti-Christ and they may try to persecute you. Overall, we should be telling anyone and everyone what Jesus has done for us and ask the Holy Spirit how to minister to each and every one of them.
That is what these guys were doing in the temple, telling people about Jesus. The religious leaders brought the “temple police” so I am sure they were feeling the pressure. They were arrested and confined. This was suffering for the Gospel but you can’t hold God or His people down. Thousands repented and turned to God through their preaching.
The religious unbelievers took them to trial. But when you are a Spirit-filled believer, there is no holding you. He will even give you the words to speak and the wisdom to deliver. Acts 4:8 says,
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders of Israel...” NKJV
Peter was filled with the Spirit and the believers overcame this physical attack on them. If Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit, then there must have people who believed but weren’t. You must be a spirit-filled believer. By the power of the Holy Spirit, you will move mountains.
Why not start with the spiritual mountains in your life today? Take authority over sickness, lack, depression, sin, lack of self control, high emotions or whatever else you are dealing with today, in the powerful name of Jesus. You are not just a winner, you are more than a winner! Move the glory of God into your life.
